In 2016, the Adelaide Fringe program for young people, YEP! will return. Schools, youth organisations, preschools and childcare centres will be able to attend a selection of Adelaide Fringe shows suitable for three to 18 year olds registered as part of the program.
YEP! provides an amazing opportunity for young people to experience the Adelaide Fringe, to immerse themselves in the festival and to engage in a wide range of art forms, through events, performances and exhibitions.
Fringe experiences for schools and preschools may also include Q&A sessions, workshops and even backstage tours providing a rich and engaging learning environment.
Adelaide Fringe’s YEP! Officer Aida Innocente said YEP! aimed to build the next generation of arts enthusiasts and practitioners.
“It’s the pathway to a creative and imaginative Fringe experience for all young people, from pre-school to Year 12. Adelaide Fringe is delighted to work with artists and educators to create this opportunity for young people,” Ms Innocente said.
When the Adelaide Fringe program is launched on Wednesday, December 2, YEP! Guides and booking forms will be available online. The YEP! Guide will be a tailor-made tool to enable teachers and youth organisations to explore and navigate the extensive Adelaide Fringe program.
The Adelaide Fringe YEP! Team will also be available to provide advice on bookings and to assist schools, youth organisations and childcare centres in making the most of their Fringe experience – taking in street artworks and free events around the CBD and local council areas. Teachers’ notes and resources will be available for many YEP! events.
YEP! Program Partner Channel 9 has also announced an exciting competition for a whole class to win tickets to attend a YEP! Adelaide Fringe show and a shared lunch in the Fringe Club.
To enter, students need to describe their favourite Fringe memory or experience in the most creative way possible – design a poster, make a video clip, create some art or write a poem. More information about the competition can be found at adelaidefringe.com.au/yepcompetition
The full 2016 Adelaide Fringe program and the YEP! Guide will be released on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Schools and organisations can find more information and download booking forms from adelaidefringe.com.au/yep
