Emma Beech is finding her place in the Adelaide Fringe with a semi-improvised stand-up storytelling show. Using her background in presentation and conversation, Beech navigates moments from her past and questions the vulnerable truth of humanity. Here We Are is a chance to enjoy a couple of chuckles and some deep musings in a faux-suave theatre.

Beech commands the tucked-away space at Arthur Arthouse with her thought-provoking stories and sequinned shirt. To the tightly packed room, she asks guided questions that disguise the scripted list of stories with uncertain endings as improvisational interactions. Together, we contemplate the unfiltered behaviours of those around us. Each tale leaves you to form your own assumptions and audience assistance is required to drive the prompt for each tale from her life. Sprinkled with some comedy and even an Iced VoVo at intermission, Here We Are is sometimes confusing and feels a little under-prepared at times, but short discussions on your favourite things leading into fragmented connections to Beech is a good way to start an evening of thoughtful conversation.
