Ever had one of those dreams where you’re trapped in a windowless building with endless corridors and, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t get out? That’s the premise of Dream State, an immersive experience inside a converted shipping container that sits at the entrance to The Garden Of Unearthly Delights. Booking one of its half-hourly slots gives you licence to roam inside a space that’s both sensorily deprived and sensorily overloaded: lights flicker and hiss, fragments of text drift up the walls and make you feel that the floor is moving beneath your feet, doors may or may not open, mirrored surfaces trick the eyes and blocked-off entrances suddenly plunge you into darkness.

In other words, it’s probably not for the claustrophobic, nyctophobic (people who’re afraid of the dark) or indeed the phobophobic (people who are afraid of, well, being afraid). This is a fun, immersive way to unsettle yourself and kick off the night (the half hourly availability also means it’s a great for filling in awkward gaps between shows) which groups, teens and thrill-seekers will particularly enjoy.

Dream State, The Garden Of Unearthly Delights, until Sunday 23 March, times vary.
