Shrink Wrapped feels less like a traditional comedy show and more like an unfiltered group therapy session. Delving into human behaviour, attachment issues, ADHD, self-esteem, and imposter syndrome, it highlights how we all carry emotional baggage while using laughter as a universal coping mechanism. Led by psychologist Dr Ruchi Sinha, comedians lay bare their personal struggles, from childhood trauma to dysfunctional relationships, while she offers real-time psychological insights in a perfect blend of comedy and analysis.

Robyn Perkins’ daddy issues set the tone, delving into the all-too-relatable pattern of dating people who resemble our parents. This expands into narcissism and over-compensation, exposing how deeply ingrained insecurities shape our interactions. Beneath the punchlines, the show cleverly reveals the human tendency to crave validation while hiding behind humour. Here, comedy serves not just as entertainment, but as a form of catharsis proving, yet again, that the best comedy often comes from trauma.

Dr Sinha straddles the line between psychologist and performer, seamlessly blending academic insight with quick-witted humour. Her refreshingly clinical perspective on the comedians’ confessions turns their punchlines into unexpected moments of self-discovery. The result is an amusing, if sometimes unsettling, reminder that everyone is dealing with something, whether they know it or not. A solid watch for those intrigued by the intersection of comedy and psychology.
