Prinnie Stevens has been part of the Adelaide Fringe for several years, with her successful Lady Sings the Blues tribute to women in music and as one of the 2024 Fringe Ambassadors. For the 2025 season, in her latest cabaret show, Stevens has bought the music of Tina Turner to life.

The Woodville Town Hall is a recent addition to the list of Fringe hubs and is an outstanding example of the beautiful halls from a past era. The audience is seated at round tables, with a cabaret style, creating an intimate and personal connection between the band and the audience.

To lend authenticity to Tina Turner’s music, Steven’s band consists of two backup singers, a keyboard player, a drummer, two guitarists and a guest saxophonist. With Prinnie’s strong and beautiful voice, the songs come to life.

Her natural charm shines through as she tells the stories behind the songs, weaving them into stories of her own upbringing. Dressed in a sparkling short red dress, she effortlessly emulates Tina Turner’s own unique style. The Phil Spector collaboration, “River Deep, Mountain High”, was a standout rendition, but the hits included “I Can’t Stand the Rain”, “Simply the Best”, and “What’s Love Got to Do with It.” It was a comprehensive list of songs covering Tina’s career.

During the show, costume changes keep the look fresh, and the energy levels are consistently high.

It’s such an uplifting, beautiful experience for the performers and audience alike. Prinnie Stevens knows how to bring the voices of women in music to life. She finished the show by celebrating the life of Roberta Flack with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “Killing Me Softly with His Song”.
