The Soweto Gospel Choir has been on my radar for some time, and this 3-time GRAMMY Award-winning Choir did not disappoint.
The show Hope, was a homage to the Freedom Movement in South Africa and American Civil Rights Movement. In this well-written performance, the choir weaved together a story of history and hope through music.
The choir delivered a powerful and moving performance, uplifting the crowd. Choir Master Shimmy Jiyane led the group of talented vocalists, drummers, and keyboard players, showcasing their talents in vocal range. These amazing artists sung in over six languages throughout the performance and showcased not only an incredible vocal range but also high-energy dancing and celebration.
This is a high-calibre event that can be enjoyed by young and old. This show resonates with the joy of connection and the spirit of hope in humanity, which I think reflects very deeply on our current time.
I would highly recommend this show, and I am disappointed it has taken me so long to find this group of talented and joyful musicians.
