What is Fringe?

Adelaide Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere; second in the world after the iconic Edinburgh Fringe! It completely transforms Adelaide and greater South Australia for 31 magical days and nights each year, and is a fantastic framework to produce within and find an audience for your voice.

Show registrations for Adelaide Fringe 2025 are now open!

Fringe is an open access festival, meaning ANYONE can be a part of it (as long as it abides by our Terms and Conditions and the law). Whether you’re a seasoned performer, an up-and-comer looking to further develop yourself as an artist, or a total newbie looking to take your first plunge into the arts, Adelaide Fringe is the coveted destination for artists across the globe.

Fringe is a fantastic chance to explore new work, find new audiences and feel out the industry. We provide opportunities to mingle with seasoned Fringe participants and delegates from all over the world, so you can learn from the best of the best.

How do I know if Fringe is right for me?

Of course, we know the decision to participate can be both exhilarating and daunting. We aim to help you navigate and determine whether Adelaide Fringe aligns with your creative pursuits, understanding what Adelaide Fringe is and isn't, and how to budget effectively.
Finding the budget to put on a Fringe show can be a challenge, particularly with the increasing cost of doing business, but we’re here to help! You can apply for funding support via the Fringe Fund now, applications close 10 September 2024.
