The Adults Only Magic Show is one of the most exhilarating shows you will see at the Fringe this year.
There’s plenty of reasons why. For one, they say that sex sells, which is true. But one of the baldest and yet, one of the most unexplored selling points when it comes to live entertainment is the intrigue of ‘magic’ and how it is shown to audiences.
Performers often try to sell magic by alluding audiences with tired routines that we have all absorbed plenty of times, but the cheeky trio behind this Fringe show are as inventive as they are playful.
Through the experiences of this scribe it is often the case that audience members won’t even see out the aftermath of a scene depicting magic before immediately turning to their friend or other half with their guess or solution to the piece of magic that has been performed. However, I found that I was only able to spin around without much to say to my company whilst attending this spectacle, other than to allow my tongue to hang outside my mouth, remaining stunned and speechless.
All in all, there are only two reasons to avoid The Adults Only Magic Show. One is that you’ll allow your mind to wonder a little more than you’d like it to if you aren’t a fan of the occasional slow burn throughout the show. The other is that you wont be flattered by the performers when they get comfortable if you aren’t comfortable with what your mother and father gave you.
