Maho Magic Bar was more fun and interactive than I could’ve ever imagined… I had no idea what to expect as I didn’t want to do any research beforehand and come across any potential spoilers! So if you’ve never been before I’ll try and keep plenty under wraps so there’s still an element of surprise.

Upon entering the neon-lit venue there were 5 separate bars and their main stage. We were seated in the front row which, side note, I highly recommend choosing this option when purchasing tickets if you like to get hands on and participate. We got to experience segments of sorcery from each talented magician within the group and it was so incredibly inclusive. It was beautiful to have the magicians really connect with you on a deeper level and genuinely want your involvement.

The one thing that stood out to me the most, aside from their captivating tricks, was their wicked sense of humour. Ryu in particular was such a comical genius and made the audience truly belly laugh. His solo performance went from what I can only call an attempted lap dance into transforming shredded paper into noodles… I’m still scratching my head over that whole situation. Nonetheless, it was a work of art.

Boss lady Sawaka, Shirayuri, E.O. Lee, Wandi and Ryu collectively put on a stunning show to remember, even if you’re simultaneously polishing off the delicious Japanese cocktails and spirits from the menu.

No wonder this show has rave reviews and is always the talk of the town. An absolute must-see for the Adelaide Fringe Festival and by far the most up close and personal you’re gonna get with this year’s entertainers.
