Maho Magic Bar is back! Now celebrating its fifth anniversary at the Adelaide Fringe, it's bringing a stunning new lineup of incredible magicians straight from Japan, ready to wow you with their impressive talents.
If you've never experienced the wonders of this unique and exclusive magic show, you'll do well to check it out. The bar itself is impossible to miss, with its bright neon lights and quirky J-Pop tunes, right in the centre of the Garden. Even more impressive is the inside: a gorgeous dimly lit discotheque, resplendent in paper lanterns and cherry blossom decor that feels like you've walked through a portal to Tokyo nightlife. The drinks are served fresh, with a dedicated bartender crafting delicious cocktails for all incoming guests.
The premise is simple and effective: guests sit at drink stations around the bar, and each magician takes their turn visiting each group and showcasing their magic. The Maho gang is wickedly fun; a diverse and hilarious cast of characters oozing with effortless charm and magnetic personalities, each armed with various card tricks, illusions, double takes, and hilarious antics. If that weren't enough, between each host change, we are treated to a variety of tricks from the "special menu" at the centre stage. From a colour-changing game played in handcuffs to a conjuring of miso soup and udon from thin air, they're easily the highlight of the incredible presentation ( I was lucky enough to be included in a guessing game involving a glass of Coke and a Cheezel). The laughs are plentiful, the atmosphere is vibrant, and the exhilaration of one flawless magic demonstration after another is second to none.
The Maho Magic crew is still going strong after many years of incredible entertainment, and their show is an easy sell for those looking for a unique, intimate, and extravagant experience for magic fans everywhere.
