Firstly, a big thanks to the Adelaide Fringe for the media pass to cover the season! For my first show at the always entertaining Garden of Unearthly Delights, we saw comedian Luke McGregor return to stand-up with his newest show, Okay, Wow!

Luke McGregor wrote and starred in the TV series Rosehaven with Celia Pacquola and has also appeared on shows like Guy Montgomery's Spelling Bee, Thank God You're Here, and 2024's season of The Amazing Race Australia, where he raced with his mother.

In the Vegabond venue, the Tasmanian comedian celebrated his big return to comedy by bringing out the humorously wholesome stories around his marriage and new family. The added perspective of living on the spectrum and OCD was certainly unique but also made for some funny stories. Especially when comparing octopus mating with online dating. The shoutout to his brother's distillery in Port Adelaide, McGregor & Young, was also a fun touch.

Some of the biggest laughs came from McGregor's interactions with the sign language stage interpreter. Seeing McGregor stop himself during his set, realising that someone is interpreting how he described his penis and other words like "flat earth" or "dildo," was nothing short of hilarious. Yes, those words work in context! Mostly.

Admittedly, the show did lose some momentum when someone's phone went off, and of course, it was a person sitting in the front row! While the phone ringing was definitely out of McGregor's control, there was a bit too much time dedicated to heckling the heckler. Hopefully, for the remaining shows of the season, there'll be fewer interruptions, and the set will be a lot more fluent.

Overall, Luke McGregor brings out the laughs and a very candid perspective of his family's life. If you've been a fan of McGregor's work on TV, then I'd say Okay, Wow is worth a look.
