Luke McGregor returns to the Fringe stage after an eight-year break with a handful of giggles in Okay, Wow. Since his last show, he’s experienced significant life changes to provide him with new content, including marriage and a growing family.
McGregor starts by poking fun at the common comedian’s tactic of targeting the front row by jokily asking their names. Thankfully (for the front row, at least) he quickly shifts focus to recap past performances and share his lived experiences. With diagnoses of ADHD, OCD, autism and anxiety, here’s a man of many talents and alternative thoughts. All interesting to an extent, but it all feels a little overdone and unspectacular, with plenty of gags landing unevenly with the crowd. It’s not a show for everyone, but people who relate to his health conditions, germaphobia and family dynamics may connect best with McGregor’s eccentric brand of humour.
Luke McGregor: Okay, Wow, The Garden Of Unearthly Delights, until Sunday 2 March, 6.50pm.
