HISTORY OF HOUSE

The Fantail – Gluttony

Friday 21 Feb – Sunday 23 Mar

4.5 out of 5 stars

Classic house tunes in an open air arena, complemented by the live sounds of the world-famous Soweto gospel choir? Perfect! I know exactly who to bring!

The seated arena immediately became a dancefloor lasting our entire journey. Starting with a roaring vocal rendition of Kathy Brown’s iconic “Turn Me Out”, our DJ and maestro, Groove Terminator opened the show, with a selection of House classics before transporting us to the disco era.

The enthusiasm, storytelling and interaction with the Soweto Gospel Choir made for immaculate vibes, continuing as we entered the 80s and a standout moment, Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” which both soothed and energized the crowd.

After an education on the roots of House music through some landmark tracks, we were then treated to some classic dance-reworks from GT and the Soweto Gospel Choir’s ARIA nominated album.

The audience was a mixture of all ages who couldn’t help but smile and dance together for the whole 90 minutes and I could genuinely recommend this as an all ages show to share with children and parents. In fact, I think I think I might do just that!
