But make no mistake, as archaic as this hour feels to watch, it’s clear that every beat has been meticulously planned by a master of funny stuff. There are a lot of clown school graduates at Adelaide (and we love them all), but Yozi’s pointed exploration of the clown process of becoming is a sly delight, particularly to anyone who’s gone through any kind of performance education. Their mangling of language is a thing of beauty too (we walk in a jerkle with our partners in mime and mourn the parapets with no parrots). The AI section does feel a tiny bit laboured, but it’s an important reminder that when it comes to comedy at this level, AI could never.
