What a little jewel. Gathered around the most beautiful doll’s house you’ll ever see, Casey Jay Andrews weaves a tale of trees and stars and home that enchants and delights, with enough factoids sprinkled through to please the most devoted lover of trivia (did you know there are more trees in the earth than there are stars in the Milky Way?).
Rich in imagery and packed with tiny details that stop you in your tracks, she conjures up a world of mystery and beauty that’s ours for the taking if we just take the time to look up properly (find a dark place, point your feet to the east and wait) or to go back home (whatever and wherever that means to you).
Live music enhances the emotion, and Andrews is a born storyteller, but her doll’s house really does steal the show; there’s a palpable sigh of disappointment when she announces that a quick turnaround means there’s no time to for a closer look at it. Beautiful, intimate and life-enhancing, may I gently suggest you do two things in the next few days: book tickets to this show and, if you’re lucky enough still to have them, call your grandparents.
