With all the improv shows going around it takes a special kind of performer to pull one out of the hat on their own.
Camilleri is a genius and does just that.
From the start, the audience is drawn in to her searching gaze as she gets their buy-in for interaction. Then the real fun begins.
With a touch of satire and beautiful irony, Camilleri creates her own meta-verse, her first audience assistant drawn into a complex relationship, that takes a new turn at every blackout.
By the time the audience has got the gist, Camilleri is in full swing, showcasing a vast range of characters and performance skillsets.
Their narratives are engaging, and each character is imbued with just enough backstory to make the creation convincing yet still absurd in the situation they are put in.
The way Camilleri created this show is unique and absorbing. It was evident that the audience could have stayed longer and wanted to see much more. The writing and direction on the single hander characters is tight and clever with the guidance on the audience improv making for an hilarious interaction each and every time.
Camilleri is a rare talent not to be missed.
