Drag bride Kane Enable has officially tied the knot with comedy and the result is a candid celebration of many a girl’s dream – their wedding day. This Is My Drag Wedding, the follow-up to Kane’s 2024 debut This Is My Drag Show, serves personal anecdotes, hilarious audience interaction and some sickening lip syncs all while dolled up like the most glamorous bride one ever did see.
Set in the fabulously camp chapel of Mary’s Poppin’, the show opens with Kane in full bridal fantasy, a stunning 80’s inspired white gown with a giant white rosette on the shoulders that was to die for and an attitude to match. But beneath the dramatic veil lies a very real story, one of being unlucky in love, chronically single, and dangerously obsessed with wedding culture. With razor-sharp wit and just the right amount of emotional vulnerability, Kane spins tales of failed romances, toxic crushes, and the enduring delusion that “you’ll find someone”.
Drawing inspiration from wedding classics like Muriel’s Wedding, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and even Princess Diana’s iconic 8-metre train, Kane weaves pop culture references seamlessly into her narrative. Every joke lands like the confetti that scattered into the audience, and each skit brings a new wave of bridal drama. One minute, she’s belting out Celine; the next, she’s pulling audience members onto the stage for the “Snatch Kane of Love”, a dating gameshow inspired by RuPaul Drag Race’s “Snatch Game of Love”.
What elevates This Is My Drag Wedding is Kane’s command of the room. As a one-queen show, she’s magnetic, having the audience howling one second and quietly reflective the next. There’s a raw honesty beneath the humour, a touching look at the way queer people often dream up their own versions of happily-ever-after in a world that hasn’t always made space for them.
Whether you’re coupled up, perpetually single, or somewhere in between, this show has something for you – a gorgeous bouquet in your face and a reminder not to take love (or yourself) too seriously.
If you’re looking for a cheeky night out with one of Adelaide’s drag icons, RSVP “Yes” to This Is My Drag Wedding.
