BankSA State General Manager, Consumer, Enza Ferraro said that BankSA has supported Adelaide Fringe to contribute significantly to the South Australian economy, seeing year on year growth over the tenure of the partnership in this regard to a total of $105.5 million in 2023, $84.3 million of which was new money to the state.
“BankSA's journey with Adelaide Fringe has been one of growth and signifies our
determination to back South Australia,” said Enza.
“Our support focusses on connecting the South Australian community by making the Fringe as accessible as possible for every attendee to the event while simultaneously encouraging economic activity by activating the CBD, our suburbs and the regions through the arts.
“The success of our partnership lies in understanding each other’s objectives, and working together to create an event that supports artists, vendors, businesses and the economy. It has become part of South Australia’s cultural identity.”
Throughout the partnership, BankSA’s involvement has gone beyond financial support,
actively contributing to Fringe’s evolution. The collaboration has also facilitated a multitude of opportunities for local artists and the enrichment of South Australia’s cultural fabric.
Since the beginning of the partnership, Fringe has seen remarkable growth year-on-year. From less than 100,000 ticket sales in 2006, to selling 1 million tickets in 2023 - a first for any Australian arts festival.
In that time, Fringe has also grown from 484 registered events to over 1300, and now
contributes more than $100 million dollars to the state economy annually.
Support has grown significantly across local audiences with one in every two South
Australians attending the Fringe, in addition to interstate and international visitors.
“The importance of our events economy is one of the key reasons that BankSA is proud to support Adelaide Fringe as Principal Partner for the 19th consecutive year,” said Enza.
“It’s an investment in the event, as well as the wider South Australian community and
economy. We are excited about what the future holds and are confident that our
collaboration will continue to deliver great outcomes for the event.”
BankSA continues to explore new ways to support artists and audiences of the Fringe. In 2024 this includes customer cardholder benefits such as 25 percent off on select shows and access to the Double Your Fun BankSA presale offering two-for-one deals a day before Adelaide Fringe announces the full program.
Fringe-goers can also take advantage of the MyFringe Planner feature on the Fringe
website, powered by BankSA, which is designed to help navigate more than 1500 shows.
Director and CEO of Adelaide Fringe Heather Croall said, “We are pleased to announce
BankSA as the principal partner of Adelaide Fringe for another 3 years. 2024 marks 19 years of partnership at this level and the support from BankSA over this time has been integral to the growth of Adelaide Fringe being able to claim the title of Australia’s biggest arts festival. Partnerships of this duration and depth are rare to see, long term relationships like this are so powerful in what they can produce, we can’t wait to sink our teeth into another three years of collaboration with BankSA as we celebrate the arts and the community within South Australia.”
