It was a humid yet sombre night, perfect conditions for roaming the Botanic Gardens at night. For those who loved Illuminate, or were unfortunate to miss tickets, Natural Wonders is a must-see sensory experience!
Through Natural Wonders, you embark on a mystical journey through a series of six installations of immersive artworks of the diverse natural ecosystems of the Botanic Gardens. You are guided through a thought-provoking storytelling, that transforms the Botanic Gardens under the shining stars into a creative studio.
Each installation focuses on a select theme, that interweave lights, haze, photography and many more mediums to deliver a truly rejuvenating experience.
Walking through with the crowd, you feel this sense of shared purpose you would experience at the cinema. Everyone just as blown away as you are by the spectacle. Some of the displays even go as far as to completely rethink what is possible for lights show.
Despite these wonderful feelings, unfortunately the sounds of the neighbouring Garden of Unearthly delights tend to breach your mind before it can reach completely neutral point of calmness.
Perhaps the funniest theme from the night was the use of observational comedy within some of the installations, with one referring to the ‘galactic housing crisis’ as to pile onto the growing number of issues we must face.
For those who missed Illuminate Adelaide’s Resonate experience, Natural Wonders is a must see!
